GG25 - I would post something like that to get under the skin of someone who constantly bashes the Leafs for no apparent reason other than to try and spread a negative message, for some unknown reason.

I didn't know that where I live has anything to do with anything. As far as I can tell you spend all your time bashing the leafs, not cheering for your team. I've made it clear that what bugs the crap out of me is your constant negative message with no reason other than your own personal vendetta against toronto maple leaf fans and the organization itself. I don't know why you have to blatantly bash the leafs and never say anything positive at all?
It's not really that I spend time bashing the Leafs...I spend time taking shots at Leaf fans like you who other Leaf fans feel give real Leaf fans a bad name. You have continued to make idiotic statements and have failed to back them up. To go out and say that anybody who has a problem with Leaf fans or the Leafs organization has an inferiority complex is just ridiculous...period. Seems to me that it is quite clear that you beleive that YOU are the centre of the hockey universe!!!

As far as this thread goes, ther have been many positive statements made by me regarding the Leafs in many conversations with guys like Hogannut, leftintherough and so on. If you have chosen not to read them, that is your problem to deal with and not mine. Do I like the Leafs....not at all, if they were the last Canadian team in the NHL would I cheer for them.....not at all...WHY you might ask...because there is a large percentage of Leaf fans out there that make people want to hate the Leafs...you are one of them!!

Holy smokes! Calm down there gg25, that's borderline getting personal.

Just curious but how long have you been a Sens fan? Was it conveniently when they got good a few years ago? Should I mark you down as a Pens fan in 2yrs?

I was born in Toronto. I grew watching the Leafs. I turn on the tv and there's a Leafs game I can sit down and watch. As a youth, I remember sitting on couch with my father watching HNIC. Sure they haven't had much success in my lifetime but that's what makes it worthwhile. Success is much sweeter after bitter failures, the more bitter the better. I dream of the day we can celebrate downtown like we did when the Jays won.

How do you endure being the fan of another team in a city in which you don't even get to watch their games on a regular basis? I suggest you check out www.hockeybuzz.com They have a good columnist that is on top of all things Sen's.

And BTW, you do spend more time bashing than cheering. I open this thread everyday to see you calling people "idiots".

Hmmmm.....interesting, I guess I have to live in a city to cheer for a team now ...I get to watch enough of the games and I am always checking for updates on TSN.ca as well as The Score when they are playing. Luckily for me I get to see them twice this week, the game against Washington is televised tonight and I get to see them against your beloved Leafs Saturday. The hardest thing isn't being able to watch a lot of games it's listening to the media in Toronto talk about the Leafs 24/7!! I am surprised they haven't started reporting when Paul Maurice goes to the bathroom yet!!!

Now as far as me beeing a Sens fan, I have cheered for them since they returned to the NHL in 92-93 and I will continue to cheer for them as long as I live. I will not cheer for the Pens in 2 yrs as I am not a bandwagon jumper like many leaf fans but thanx anyways for asking!! I will have no reson to change the team that I cheer for anytime soon!!

If I may put my 2 cents worth in. GG25 does state facts, and usually only gets going if someone is egging him on. GG25 and I have had many heated discussions that included p/m's being sent back and forth, but we did come a mutual decision that we were both hockey fans and both us support our particular team.

I am a Toronto born Leaf fan, and I think it is fair to say that the Leafs have had one of the worst ownership/management people in all of hockey over the last 40 years. We all know what Ballard did, and except for a brief moment in the early to mid 90's bad ownership seems to be the only requirement if you want to own the Leafs.

Also, Leaf fans are loyal beyond reason, and it is this loyalty that ownership prays on. We made stupid trades and gave away our future so we could have well known names skating around on the ice, regardless if they could still play or not.

As I have also said it seems now MLSE is trying to reverse that. As I have said I would rather watch this team than what was happening last year. Maurice is a modern day coach, he has been working with a fairly talented group of kids in the AHL last year and now in the NHL. Any KNOWLEDGABLE Leaf fan should know that this team, this year is playing as well as they can. Yes they stink the joint out some nights, but at least you know that the players are going to try hard, and the coaching staff is going to try hard. Hopefully something will come of it.

I must say though that last night was the kind of example that promotes GG25's opinion on Leaf fans. At the AHL all-star game they announce John Ferguson Jr and everyone boo'd him. That is a low class act that I would expect to see by an American fan base. JFJ may not be Scotty Bowman, but he is trying his best. Yes he overpaid Kubina, and yes he signed Mc Cabe for 2 years to long, but he has made a ton of good moves. He got Deverau off waivers, he got Westrum as well.

It is totally unbelievable to me as a Leaf fan, to listen to the supposed Leaf fans out there say this or that, with no idea of what they are talking about. Going to a Leaf game is a social event, not a sporting event. I can prove my point by pointing to the attendance level at Ricoh. You have a beautiful 8000 seat facility that is family friendly and sells tickets for $12 at the door and we can't even fill it 50% full. This makes no sense. We are willing to pay hundreds for a chair at the ACC but won't support the future of the organization.

I really thought this year with moving Maurice to the Leafs and everyone seeing the progression of Marlies making the Leafs, and being ready to play at the NHL level it would increase interest and attendance for the Marlies, but I was wrong. Twenty years ago Toronto was a hockey town, now it is a Leaf town. There is so much good grass routes hockey here with teams like St Mikes, and metro junior A, no one cares. At the AAA level of GTHL a person could go and see literally the best 13-14 year old hockey in the entire world, but what do we do? We overpay for an event that has nothing to do with sports and everything to do with prestige. I was offered face value tickets for Saturday night and turned them down. I'm not going back to ACC until they have contender on the ice. I'll support the Marlies, and I go to a lot of Marlies games, but no more ACC until the team is worth paying for.

No you don't have to. I was asking because it seems tough and must suck to not get the media coverage other than reading ottawa papers online.

What bandwagon jumpers are you talking about? I've been a lifelong fan, through thick and thin. When they suck, I may not watch many games but I don't grab a Red Wing jersey and pretend to be on top of the world. Your above statement is clear example of how you troll on this forum. I *asked* how long you'd been a fan and if you were a bandwagon jumper. You don't, you simply make blanket *assumptions*. Who in this thread are you referring to?

BTW, what happened last night? 3 goals in how many seconds? I was about to bet on the Sens last night, luckily I decided not to as the betting line smelled fishy.

I was kidding with you...man take it easy...you Leaf fans are so damn SENSitive!! I was refrering to the Pens comment...I was simply saying that I will not get on the Pens Bandwagon if they do well, I am loyal to the Sens that's all! There was no reference to you as a BW jumper so don't worry about it!

Last night....hmmm..the Sens lost...no big deal..can't win em' all but I would say that the fact that they have picked up points in the standings in 13 of their last 16 games looks pretty good at the momment!!!

                Any wagers on Saturday's game???

Take it easy there GG. I agree with wayland that this is getting borderline personal.

... and let me remind you that YOU were the original poster who started this thread many moons ago and gave it the confrontational title "Where are all the Leaf fans this year???" Well, I think you've found them - and you shouldn't be surprised if they're feeling a little ornery.

I'm going to leave the thread open for now - but it seems to me that everyone has made their positions pretty clear, and so perhaps it is time to move on.

If Emery is in net, most likely taking the Sens. Would love for the Sens to lose tonight so they can really "get up" for the game on Sat. Bet against the Leafs?!? Yeah I'm a Leafs fan, but I love cash more and last time I checked, JFJ wasn't paying me diddly.

I expect to see Gerber get more consistent starts now that the trade deadline's 4 weeks away. He's drawing some interest and his recent numbers have been good. The Sens will have to include another player to rid themselves of Gerber, but it won't be a roster player and they'll get something significant back becayuse of the salaries involved.

I believe Gerber's starting tonight against the Caps.

I hope they can get rid of him without it costing them too much, they have already wasted whatever it is that they signed him for. I will have to watch the game tonight and close my eyes whenever the caps are in the Sens end tonight!
I also just saw that Fisher will be back tonight, hopefully he can provide a bit of a spark so the Sens can bounce back from the loss last night!

Thats one of the few things I love about watching the leafs this year. You never know what leafs team is going to show. Yeah, they'll most likely loose. But I wouldn't bet against a surprise win for the leafs either.
