Damn ... the torsion spring just snapped on on of our doors tonight ... not a job I would ever think of taking on so calling to see if we can get it serviced this weekend

had the same issue during a recent install of a brand new opener. I found that it was the sunlight at a certain time of the day. I repositioned the sensors and all was good after that

My situation was the direct opposite. When I tried to open it, it would begin to open a quarter of the way, stop and then close. I found out it was the gears in the unit. They are plastic and just wore down. I called Markham Garage Doors and these guys were great. Came over diagnosed the problem and fixed it. Don't know where you are but if your close, give these guys a shout.
