I was blown away. Seems they invalidated a ton of the previous storyline in order to make a current political statement.

    Thoughts?

They did take it in a different direction ( conspiracy theory) but who knows what the truth is, I guess we will see, or not .

Reviews of episode 1 ( the only 1/6 released to critics) were not flattering but I thought the show was ok. Of course much if it was spent providing background for new viewers.

Scully has aged well, looks as good as ever....Mulder not so much but I suppose in part he's made to look worse for all the years of suffering alone.

I have only seen the first 7 of the orig so far.. Just started them.. WAY to many to finish to wait watching the new ones.

I really liked it! They did throw a lot of stuff in there to really stress this is 2016 not 1992, that was neat.

The concept of what they are going on about was pretty solid I thought, it's a plausible answer. I REALLY liked the faraday cage, I like when shows use real things.

I PVR'd it and got half of the football after-game show. Ugh.

Gotta wait until Fri night now when it gets repeated again.

              Re: X Files last night

I thought it was terrible, but the x-files lost me originally around season 4/5 when they started moving more and more towards conspiracy theory storylines. I'm a huge fan when they just stick to the weird and unexplained. I can accept that government's may not tell us the whole truth, but mass murder? Experimenting on civilians? They would never do that. Ummmm, Hmmmm, well, probably wouldn't do that again?

And Skinner actually looks younger or at least less authoritive than he used to. Not as big, and what's with wearing tinted glasses? My favorite part of yesterday's nonsense was seeing Cancer Man at the end. I hear that the show gets better and some monster of the week type episodes. So, I'm not giving up on them yet.

Mulder looks as expected. I thought Scully aged more than he did, but still looked good for her age.

uhmmmm....F the game. This ship picks me off. Games almost never seem to end on time and then they just push the other show rather than cut the stupid post game crap. I mean, if you watched the game wtf do you need to see? Oh wait, it probably has more to do with commercial revenue.
STUPID time to have a season opener.

I went to bed before the show was aired knowing that the football game prolly gonna push the show back an hour.

                    Will catch it on demand.

hahahaha I started this thread to get folks take on the statement being made by the show however I do wholeheartedly agree that the NFL post game was a huge unexpected piss off. What was it at 10pm, 20 minutes of commercials, 10 minutes of talking heads, then X Files started at 10:30? Ridiculous.

Every time I look at Duchovny I think of Californication. Great show. At least for the first couple of years.

Last nights episode was significantly better. What's the schedule for the show now?

For the record I dont have anything against 'the game' although I dont watch them. I think it is irresponsible for a network to run new episodes, especially series premiers, which this was in eccence, after the game which often run over. Moreso in a time where most ppl pvr the shows. I generally dont watch shows unless they are pvr'd just so I dont have to waste my time and brain on the commercials. Just run a simpsons rerun or something.

Looking forward to watching this on demand though.
