They (a) can't seem to figure out back to backs and (b) need to upgrade on Enroth. He's been awful.

Each time he's been given the nod, he just can't seem to win. Karri Ramo needs a shot at this point, can't be worse.

Maybe Enroth gets trades for a 7th round pick and we sign Ramo

          Probably a bit of both.
Anderson also lost big( 4-1) in the 2nd of a back to back as well.
I think 2 of Enroth's 3L in back to backs have been in shoot out, so he's given them a chance in those.

When your save % is sub .900 you're really not giving your team a chance though.

              I suppose.

in three of the back to backs they have only scored, 2,1,0 goals so Offense hasn't been helpful. Meanwhile In the front of the b to b they've scored 5/6/4/4
19 gf in front end , 7 gf on back end

The Nj shhoot out loss was 5-4, iirc Leafs missed all 3 shoot out chances, NJ scored on 1/3.

Yep. 4 goals for NJ on 30 shots . Those kinds of performances aren't going to win many games.

It is also on the players to figure out what it takes to win the B2B games. Many of them are young and haven't had to deal with the kind of workload they get in the NHL. It'll come.

Johnson was great for Calgary last night. Made some huge stops at the end of the 2nd that could have put the Leafs back in the game.

B2B shouldn't be an issue for the young guys....the AHL and OHL routinely play back 2 back 2 back almost every F-S-S.

the AHL and OHL are not near the same speed, intensity and physicality of the NHL.

I think experience and depth are important factors

Enroth only has 1 OTL in all his starts with the Leafs; the rest have been losses, I believe...

Yesterday's issue was they weren't ready the first few minutes (2 goals against in the first min. of the game) and when they finally settled down and started playing better, ran into a very hot goaltender - Chad Johnson stopped some decent Leaf scoring chances that could've made the game close (ie. Marner's breakaway, Soshnikov's tip-in)...

Enroth also didn't help much either; he doesn't look like the type of goalie that could steal a game whereas at least with Andersen, he can (Buffalo game)... At this rate, if he doesn't get any wins, it might make more sense to use Ramo or one of the Marlies' goalies instead.

Lastly; I think Babcock could've at least switched some of the D (Marincin, Corrado) last night; I'm pretty sure he kept the same D lineup from the previous night!

                        Sparks was suspended I think

Easy to point at the goalie but often it's the team in front that isn't doing its job.

Leafs sit 29th ( 2nd worst in the HNL) in shots allowed against.

Leafs need to improve defensively as well.
I didn't see the 3rd goal last night but hard to blame the goalie on the first two.

Better goaltending might put them at risk of sneaking into the playoffs. Not sure Lou's going to allow that this year.

Why would Lou not want them to get into the playoffs? It would be amazing fr the team , the city and fans.

The draft is not great and they already have more youth than they need.

I think if they can hang around Lou will be making moves to shore up the D and make a run

Enroth was 7-5-1 with LA last year and posted so so stats. This was on a team that is as strong defensively as any team in the league. Best case scenario is he is a sub .500 goalie on a weaker defensive team. Add to that the fact he has no confidence at all right now and this is what you get.

As for the offence, they put 39 shots at Johnson, many close in, grade A scoring chances and he came up big. Even being scored on twice in the first 49 seconds, without a hot goaltender this would have been a different game. I got the feeling that if they could have got to 3-1 either late in the 2nd or early in the 3rd, they might have been able to pull it out but Johnson made some key saves

Oh well, on to Saturday to see what the much anticipated rematch brings

And Bernier , who everybody threw under the bus when I TO, has one of the best save percentages in the league (.933) with Anaheim this year. He has only 1 loss and 1 OT loss in 7 starts.
