This made me dig out one of the Wide Churchills I've had in the humi for years now. Great smoke, and absent some of the "roughness" I tend to see in most R&J offerings, even when well aged.

And I respect your trepidations on the A coffins, a smoke not to be trifled with

              Re: What are you smoking?

Hope this is OK to post here. I'm putting it in this thread as it is of interest to cigar smokers in particular. I received this info from a cigar shop I frequent. Long story short is that Justin doesn't want you to know what you are smoking (unless it is Pot, that is OK to smoke) and has promised to make all tobacco packaging generic including the bands on the cigars and the boxes they come in.

This is what they sent and there are some email contacts you can write to if you oppose this measure.

We wanted to alert our customers to something that is currently under review with Health Canada which would have a huge impact on the premium cigar industry, on which all Specialty Tobacconists such as Cigar Bodega are reliant on!
In order to deter minors from smoking, Justin Trudeau announced in October 2015 that he would include the introduction of plain tobacco packaging as part of his platform, under the heading of Healthier Kids. To this end he sent a mandate letter to Health Minister, Jane Philpott to make this a top priority!

Please see the attached link which provides the Consultation that is currently out for review until August 31. If implemented it would mean standardized packaging for all tobacco products including cigars and pipe tobacco as shown in the photos.
This was introduced in Australia in 2012 ago and devastated the industry! France and the UK implemented it last year for cigarettes but sensibly exempted cigars and pipe tobacco.

As you can see from the photos, all of the cigar bands and packaging would have to be replaced at enormous cost which will severely impact the Canadian distributors, limiting their product offerings and add significant cost to the retailer and ultimately the consumer!

Since time is of the essence, if you wish to continue seeing the traditional cigar bands and packaging that identify the product, plus continue to have a wide selection of product, please help our efforts in protecting the industry by contacting your local MP! Cigars and pipe tobacco need to be exempted from this new packaging!

For Markham-Unionville this is Bob Saroya (905) 470-2024 bob.saroya@parl.gc.ca For the many customers we have who live in the Stouffville area, it would be particularly helpful to contact Dr Jane Philpott direct. If you are located in her riding of Markham-Stouffville, she can be reached at jane.philpott@parl.gc.ca and otherwise in her role of Health Minister, at the Ministry office in Ottawa: jane.philpott@canada.ca

Well this all seems reasonable to me

why not tell grown adults they can't buy tobacco unless they hide the packaging and still collect massive taxes on even though most of these shops clearly have signs saying 19 or over?

What next are they going to tell us next that we have to pay for all the Pan Am buildings, construction and salaries...... oh wait....

Just an update on this thread. Had a CAO flat head 450 and 550 from a recent order and those are now my favorite go to cigar hands down.

Past Sunday had a Padilla signature1932 that has been in my humidor since May 2007 ------ unbelievable smoke. Note sure they are still around but if so grab a stick or 2

                      Re: What are you smoking?

Made a visit to Cigar Bodega today. Bought some Romeo et Julieta (a current fave), Flora de Coran (sp?), a few others including some of their house brands.

Humidor is now topped up and ready for use!

                        Re: What are you smoking?

I've been enjoying a lot of house brands lately while I wait for my first cigar order to arrive (today hopefully, thanks Chris!). They can be really hit and miss. The house brand robusto from village cigar co was excellent. I believe the wrapper is maduro Cuban with Nicaraguan/Honduran filler. Excellent smoke. Price point doesn't compete with online, but certainly better than $15/stick for a name brand.

I hope I'm ok posting this here...

My mom is currently back in Canada and I'd like her to bring me some dip back. I used it sparingly during my baseball days and enjoy it once in a while during a round of golf.

I understand it's pretty hard to come by now and that all flavoured tobaccos have also been banned.

Where would be the easiest place for her to pick some up for me?
