I live a 5 minute walk from one of the bigger LCBOs so I've never paid attention to beer and wine in the supermarket.

I've gone to a Fortinos (Allen & Lawrence) and Loblaws (Hogg's Hollow) since the strike began and noticed 2 things.

The Loblaws has an awful selection of beers in a tiny stretch of shelving, and they have one of those "The Wine Shop" locations on site, which is also woeful.

Fortinos has much better selection, but still pales compared to a LCBO or any American grocery store or gas station.

Anyways..... 6 days into the strike and the shelfs are getting noticeably short of product.

I thought the LCBO was going to continue to supply stores, restaurants and online shoppers during the strike, no?

A friend ordered some wine online and it arrived a couple of days later. What's going on?

I'm mostly a beer consumer so doesn't affect me too much but experienced the longest check-out line ever at my local Beer Store today. Shelves were half empty.

Keep up the good work Dougie.

Another reason grocery stores don’t want to be the next place the criminals start walking out with baskets/bags of booze too.

Trading Post in Port Perry seemed reasonably well stocked on Wednesday though they also only have a small selection. Still we found just about all we were looking for.

But....but....If Ford is successful in reducing the LCBO to selling spirits only...dollars to donuts, he will rebrand these as....OPS....

            Wait for it....Ontario Package Stores.

And...he will need to bring back the brown paper bags that goes with that.

And for those who want to know where the name "Package Stores" comes from....

Why CT and New England liquor stores are called ‘package stores’ (ctinsider.com)

Funny. The only two groups this will really hurt are alcoholics who need this drug and the province for whom this is a kick in the coffers.

I was in there yesterday and the place was a zoo - cashier say it was a lot of booze traffic all day. Stock was dwindling.

So regarding LCBO delivery, do they just drop it off at your door like amazon or do they knock and have someone answer and check their ID prior to giving it to you? What if there is no one home? I have seen where it is left at the door.

They will not leave it. You have to be there. You have to be of age to receive it. This happened to a friend this weekend.

Shelves are getting pretty thin at the grocery stores here as well. Not empty, but well on their way. If I was a wine drinker and outside the Niagara region, i'd be getting pretty upset about now.

Fortunately, the local microbrewers and Georgian Bay Distillery here have plenty of stock!

So.... 3 days later and my wife was at the Loblaws in Leaside (Redway Rd) and the shelves had hardly any wine (but a decent amount of beer).

LCBO has just announced a change of plans - they will not be opening any stores after 2 weeks of the strike. Instead, they will focus on getting product distributed to restaurants and online sales. I hope they get grocery stores some goods soon.

With their confident plans of opening stores and supplying customers thru other channels, I had mistakenly thought the warehouse and delivery workers were in a different union and things could go on as normal.

The horror. My playing partner was reduced to having to drink blended rather than single malt Scotch this weekend.

I have seen instances of them leaving it, hence the question. I imagine the demand has recently gone through the roof.
