Calling a Hispanic Miss Universe "Miss Housekeeping."

About the Jewish - "Hillary Clinton meets in secret with international banks to plot the destruction of U.S. sovereignty." Fascist code for "Jews"

About Natives -calling Senator Elizabeth Warren "Pocahontas."

Trump endorsed and campaigned for Roy Moore, the Alabama Senate candidate who spoke positively about slavery and who called for an African-American Muslim member of Congress not to be seated because of his religion.

Against Middle Eastern "total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States,"

In the debate with Clinton "African Americans, Hispanics are living in hell because it's so dangerous. You walk down the street, you get shot. You're living in poverty; your schools are no good; you have no jobs."

Calling those white supremacists in Charlottesville "very fine people."

Not sure how you can call it fake news. But anyway Chrish8 has quoted some examples above. Quite a body of evidence.

Yeah, many of those comments are edgy and politically incorrect. Might be seen as racist at first glance but a sober second look reveals that Trump is right.

          1. On Mexicans - he was clearly talking in the context of illegals crossing the border. What do you think will happen if you flood your country with people from a place where the murder rate is 40x higher? And what if the people who are coming are already filtered into those who are willing to break the law and come illegally?

          2. On Muslims - he called for a complete shutdown of Muslims entering the country UNTIL WE CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON. In the context of a terror event, and given that Obama was extremely lax and politically correct on this, this is what Americans needed to hear. That someone is willing to put aside political correctness for the sake of safety and security. When asked about it in coming days he made it clear that he was not talking about American Muslims returning, and that the plan would be to vet people from specific countries.

          3. $h**hole countries? He's absolutely correct! Some countries are $h**hole countries!

          4. On African American and Hispanic neighbourhoods. He is correct! But who's fault is that? Most of the '$h**hole' cities are run by Democrats. Why does the left wing media not cover 3500 murders in Chicago with the same intensity as one cop justifiably shooting a thug?

          5. ON Charlottesville. He was referring to the protesters. Yes some were white supremecists but most were simply Americans fed up of cultural warfare. Should America blow up mount Rushmore because some of those Presidents owned slaves? Is it disturbing that kkk were allowed to march alongside these people? Yes. But no more disturbing than Black Lives Matter chanting for dead cops.

          6. On Fauxcahontas - again, there is a frustration from conservative America that it has become a country of special favors, not of equality. Warren used native heritage to gain favor in her past. Fauxcahontas is a well known meme. It's a personal insult but not racist.

              • Defending racism has got to be in violation of the forum rules IIRC.

Use of that phrase can be considered as a form of 'dog whistle' for those holding racist ideologies.

                  • There's a job for you in Washington as the President's apologist. I'm kidding, of course, but not about Trump. He's just not a very nice person, whether it's insulting, threatening or belittling his enemies or "friends" in order to elevate his fragile sense of self or to curry favour with his supporters.

This isn't a dress rehearsal. Enjoy yourself. There's no do-over.

Agree. I'm not a fan of him as a person. Wouldn't invite him to my house for dinner. But he is right on most of these issues. Americans have figured out the hollowness of politically correct leaders who don't deliver result. Canadians are a bit slow on the uptake but are beginning to see the same flaws in Wynne and Trudeau.

One extreme enables the other. I too wish there were a reasonable middle ground. But given the choice between politically correct and correct, I choose the latter.

                      • I assume your last sentence reflects your reluctant preference for the politically incorrect Trump. I would eschew that option, because politically incorrect statements aren't just unnerving, but they give intended or unintended legitimacy to some of the vilest tendencies buried deep in many of us. That's why many fringe groups love him. Once you open that door, it's almost impossible to close it.

There are loony fringe on left and right. The difference from what I can see today is that only the left is using violence to silence free speech, possibly with government funds. And I firmly believe actions speak louder than words.

                              Misogynistic name calling? Fascinating.
