  • DRINKING and DRIVING

I want to share an experience with you, about drinking and driving.

As you all well know, over the years some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from the odd social session or golf tournament game.

A couple of nights ago, I was out for a few drinks with some friends at the Marriott Hotel and had a few too many beers and some rather nice red wine.

Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I've never done before: I took a bus home.

Sure enough on the way passed a police road block, but as it was a bus, they waved it right through.

I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise as I have never driven a bus before and I have no clue where I got it from.

I'm a little concerned about this line ^^
....you drove the bus home, and now you don't know what to do with it!?

Good to hear. Coming from a recent university graduate I can honestly tell you that my age demographic (19-25) is very in tune with Drinking and Driving and avoids it with all costs<--MADD has done their job over the years. I know I may get some flack for saying this but it seems that it is this demographics parents who are the ones that often seem to think Drinking and Driving is okay simply because it was common practice in the past.

Please tell me that more than three people get that this is a joke. There was actually a reported post for one of the responses to this.

                  +10

My brother and I converted our parents. We moved from England when I was 4. Over there 30 years ago, it was basically a free-for-all on the roads from what I understand. My dad told me stories about driving home so drunk that he had to hang his head out the window so he could navigate by the yellow line.

If any of my friends even suggests driving after more than a couple of beers it's like they casually tossed out that they were going to throw a blindfold on and go squirrel hunting in a school playground.

                    Re: DRINKING and DRIVING

Incredible that drinking is at an all time high, yet kids are smarter than adults for the mot past about drinking & driving.

Daughter just finished first year university and they do drink hardcore, but no one would dare D&D. The penalties for them are just too stiff.
