  • Re: Brooke Henderson

Birdies on 11 and 12 (her second and third) for a pretty good start. Currently sitting in T10 (-4).

UPDATE: She ended up with 4 birdies and 3 bogeys for a (-1) 72. She sits in (-3) T20 going into the third round.
Brooke is paired with Gaby Lopez at 11:04am for Round 3.

UPDATE (Sat 3:50pm): Brooke finished round 3 with a (-3) 70 and currently T15 (-6) [the last group just finished 12]. Maude-Aimee Leblanc was up to T7 a few minutes ago after five birdies, but bogeyed 17 and doubled 17 and has fallen back to T18 (-5) with one hole to go [UPDATE: she birdied 18 to tie with Brooke]. Alena posted a nice 69 and has moved up T32 (-3).

Great to see that Brooke is going to play with Maude-Aimee tomorrow. Two Canadians starting the final day in the top 20. Go Canada Go!!

Lets hope Brooke's putter gets hot and she can go low and really move up the board.

Link to her 3rd round interview where she alludes to her putter trouble.

Brooke was interviewed by TSN after her round today. She feels good about her game but knows where she made some errors.

The start of Brooke Henderson's first season as a full member of the LPGA Tour is being played in paradise and she is hoping that's prophetic for the rest of her year. TSN's Bob Weeks provides a recap of her performance on Saturday, which has her sitting in 16th after three rounds.

Brooke has 3 birdies on the front nine. She is at -9 (T18) and the leaders are at -14, but she is only 2 shots outside the top 10 right now.

A double on 15 (par 5) absolutely destroyed a very nice round.

She finished with a 70 and T21 and made $13,849. That should put her around 21st on the 2016 money list if my calculations are correct. (EDIT: my calculations were correct and she is now T21 on the money list)

Nice interview with Brooke this morning at 6:20am by Heather Hiscox on CBC National News. Heather is down in Rio doing a piece on the upcoming Olympics and is interviewing future Olympians. It was Brooke's turn this morning. Participating in the Olympics was a goal for Brooke growing up and she thought it might be in women's hockey, long before golf was announced as a new sport.

Indeed it was. Imagine her as a goalie: "hero or bum" (her words, paraphrased )

She is a very good interview and well spoken. Great smile.

The interview reminded that the course itself in Rio is still under construction. So much for mature tree-lined fairways I suppose, but the flurry of activity should make things interesting for course conditions.

Good Commercial. In the matter of tanline for the feet. There are several ladies when dress other than for golf show white feet in heels. Tan in the Can could be an LPGA sponser lol.

Wrap up article by Bob Weeks of TSN. He discusses the double at 15 and has insight to the impact Brooke is having on the LPGA and Canadian golf.A good read

Brooke Henderson finished up her first tournament of the season with a three-under 70 that left her in a tie for 21st. It was a respectable finish, but at TSN's Bob Weeks writes, it came with some key learning points.

I hope that Brooke will consider shortly getting a professional caddie as she moves through this season. I know that Brittany and she are close and that she believes she understands her game. Perhaps though, that in a nutshell, is the snag. A couple of times last week, she played the wrong club and got into trouble where maybe an involved caddie, responsible for her AND his welfare, would offer facts and counter to the enthusiasm of trying to hit a driver on every hole. This is only an observation not a condemnation of a wonderful golfer and her future. I think it would only be a help. There you go... two cents in.
