And this is why I really hope he's choosing the gear that can best help him win, and not going with the highest bidder.

He doesn't need any more money. His kids (and their kids kids kids) are pretty much set. His legacy is tied to increasing his wins.

I think he should also play the Arnold Palmer as a sign of respect for the late king.

And also commits to Dubai Desert Classic (shock!). For those doing the math that's 4 starts in 5 weeks.

Who does he think he is, Miller Barber??

Hmmmm.... 4 tournament rounds in December after a year and a half off. Then 4 in 5 weeks.

          I really don't get that.

I'm too lazy to check, but has he ever done this before?

His back may be in "fine form" but this sort of counts on it being finer than ever before, even when he was in his twenties.

More likely, IMO, is he got hammered the other night and went on a web frenzy signing up for all sorts of stuff. I speak from experience....

                Interesting article paralleling these two.

We could still use their greatness. At the very least, we would love to see one or both have one last burst of it.

Fortunately there are no rules limiting the number of golf balls you can carry during a match!

Sounds like the big cat has dropped Riviera and the Honda from his schedule.

Yup his back lasted 54 competitive holes after 2 years off.

I suspect he flounders his way through 2017, and barring any major breakthrough he calls it a career after this season.

What a shame, it's sad to see a once great athlete in this condition.

That, it is, and he will missed by many on here and around the World.
At this point I cannot see him being ready for the Masters.
Not fully aware of what his back problem is, as a comparison of sorts I have a golfing buddy who also had serious back issues, to the extent that he could not work or play golf.
I.I.R.C he had three vertebrae fused together and a recovery period of about nine months. Of course we all felt really bad for him, however, when he came back to life so to speak, he changed his swing really toning it down and became a much better golfer and none of could even come close.
Maybe this is the back specialist Tiger needs.

Hmmm.... called it, but it went far worse than I'd imagined.

He looked like a mediocre golfer with an okay back at Torrey Pines, and a bad golfer with a worse back in Dubai. I figured he would play close to all 8 rounds in four tournaments. 3 isn't even close. I thought the travel was unnecessary, but.... yikes. That's an awful outcome.

Now what? He doesn't have another 2 years he can take off.
