Anyone see this guy bashing the green a foot from the cup after he missed his 3 footer on 12 I believe? The camera cut out very quick but you can see Thomas smashing a spike mark with frustration. You could almost here a 'thud' each time he hit the ground. After almost hitting a fan while dropping club and now this? I realize they are the last group but still, setting a poor example and making himself look like a sap. Guy should take some lessons from DJ...

Re: Justin Thomas Spike Mark
He showed a little emotion oh no; that's the problem with sports today they lost identity look at the NFL as a prime example they can't celebrate without a fine; there's always some guys complaining about a player showing emotion, clearly you've never played high level sports or you'd understand.

Re: Justin Thomas Spike Mark
When he dropped / flung his driver it came very close to a couple kids on the ropes. He quickly hurried over to retrieve it. I'm glad the announcers called him out on it.
Also, the way he was pounding the spike mark or tuft of grass so close to the hole, that surely could cause harm to the surface for the next golfers coming through ( he was in the last group so no one coming through later ).🍍 2023 WITB 🍍

Re: Justin Thomas Spike Mark
When your in the moment your in the moment, what he did wasn't a big deal; blown out of proportion for sure.
And I'm not on any horse I've just played other sports and understand the emotions envolved, missing putt for 95 is a little different then having a PGA tournament on the line

Total disrespect for the course. A pro who does this for a living act more proper than that. And my response to your 'high level athlete' comment is to get off your high horse Mr. Athlete.....

Re: Justin Thomas Spike Mark
take some lessons from DJ? I love DJ and all but lets not forget the guy has a criminal past and a questionable suspension so when you're asking who would be a better example for people you might want to come up with better role models.
The way Justin hit the ground with his putter, it didn't do any damage. Definitely no worse than 200lbs in metal spikes. His club throw was a poor choice and he knew it right away. Its not like he hurled it into the crowd on his follow through.
Just because he's getting paid millions to play a game at an elite level, doesnt mean he has to behave a certain way or change who he is. If you dont like it... I'm sure he wont mind. Its bad enough our society is becoming offended with ever single move, word that someone says. If he stuck the toe of his putter into the ground or took a divot out of the green... you might have some argeement here. But what he did was nothing. You can hit the ground pretty damn hard with the sole of your putter without damaging the green.Driver - Taylormade SIM MAX 9.0 Diamana S

Re: Justin Thomas Spike Mark
No doubt DJ has made some poor decisions in the past, but he's clearly got his head on straight now. He has matured and concentrated on the right priorities, on and off the course, and it's showing in his results.
Hopefully JT will do the same, because he's one heck of a talent. He knew right away (when he saw his club bounce towards the crowd) that he did something wrong. Slamming the greens is something a lot of guys have done (Billy Horschel at US Open), but don't think he should get a pass just because he was in the last group on the last day.
All of these are little things (that, yes, set a bad example) - not a huge deal but shouldn't be swept under the rug either. PGA Tour should speak to him (fine him if they want) then move on.
