    So sad. What a shame.

Tim Zook's family still doesn't know whether the vaccine played a role in his death, which is under investigation by federal and local agencies. Rochelle Zook insists that her husband's story should not dissuade anyone from getting the vaccine.

Should we call this man an idiot for his negative outcome?

        • Someone mentioned that they would ''sacrifice common good for personal freedom.''

For starter, I don't think 'common good' is for an individual to determine.

As for 'personal freedom,' I hope people who support that statement would elaborate. Are they talking about their own personal freedom or every one's personal freedom?

          • The outcome is not what determines the wisdom of a choice. There was nothing idiotic in following a course of action supported by the science, as this man's wife wisely recognized. On the other hand, there is nothing commendable in following the advice of one who know NOTHING about the science of immunology or virology.

This isn't a dress rehearsal. Enjoy yourself. There's no do-over.

We should call neither an idiot.

On the other hand, one made very foolish choice that cost him his life. Another chose the route that had the greatest chance of a good outcome and it still cost him his life. One choice was still much better than the other.

Now, if that foolish choice only impacts you, I guess its your foolish choice to make. When your foolish choice can impact others, then the impact on others must be taken into account.

It is no different than running a red light. Running a light does not guarantee that you will hit someone, but it does exponentially increase the probability that you will, thus your right to drive wherever you want, whenever you want is very reasonably restricted.

              • Also posted in the COVID Vaccine thread.

And at least one poster here has consistently demonstrated an inability and/or unwillingness to understand science/statistics.

They even tried to carry this over to another thread about auto tires where they demonstrated a total inability to understand mathematics/engineering.

Clear statistics demonstrating how much safer one is getting the COVID vaccination as opposed to getting infected with COVID. All Canadian and as of Friday.

                Vaccination doses administered: 54,773,828
Total adverse effects of special interest: 3,018

                Total COVID related deaths: 27,620
Current number of COVID patients in ICU: 755
                Other COVID patients hospitalized: 3,143

                  • In other news, India has approved a DNA vaccine.

DNA-, like RNA-based vaccines is still quite new technology (about 20 years) and holds promise for both infectious viral diseases as well as some cancers.

Early trials showed it to be somewhat less effective (67%) but that was against Delta, so it may turn out to be pretty comparable to our leaders from Pfizer and Moderna.

Although it requires 3 doses, it does not require freezing for transport, and it does not require syringes for injection - so it could be useful for a LOT of the world. There is about a dozen other DNA vaxes currently in clinical trials.

AD - are you making a loosely veiled personal attack? Why not be direct?

Why perpetrate a character attack? Why continue pushing hate as your message towards anyone who does not agree with you?

That's what he does if you've followed what he's been doing this whole time, just like many here. He's incapable of being respectful if he disagrees with you, again like many here. Unfortunately, this is typical behavior of many with the pandemic and the government and media creating this behavior and people are oblivious to it.

You could not be more wrong, but we've become accustomed to that.

When you accuse Arthur Dailey of personal attacks, you lose what was left of whatever credibility you thought you had.

AD deals in well-researched facts. Period. The fact that this approach routinely gets the better of you is your problem, not his.

My advice to you is to quit while you're behind...

                            • ... meanwhile back at the pandemic ... more unvaccinated are people getting infected and clogging up hospitals and dying.

Call it personal choice, foolish, idiotic, whatever you want. Unvaccinated and dead is still 100% dead. The clogging of hospitals is OTOH just plain selfish.

AD structures the same attacks repeatedly.

He compiles links with factual information to support his argument. Each link and case should be closely examined as his links often contain substantial bias.

When he is unable to "win" an argument he routinely suggests that anyone who does not agree is by default antivax, and further by extension that they are right wing extremists. In my case he calls me stupid.

Last but not least, when faced with a question he does not want to answer, he simply does not answer.

Arthur Dailey - I used to appreciate your posts, lately I'm sad to see your candor broken down to insults. I recognize that the stress of this pandemic has taken a toll on everyone. I wish you the inner peace to find acceptance of others in your heart.
