Nothing wrong with someone making a claim and backing it up with some math. Your welcome to provide some %'s as to how many rounds are getting disrupted.... or how many rounds in your lifetime have been interrupted with music.

I bet you that if you polled a golf course, less then 5 percent of public players listen to music. So lets say 10,000 rounds at an average mom and pop track. So thats 500 rounds a year with music playing. Of those 500 rounds Im saying 10% of those people listen too loudly, so 50 rounds out of 10,000 there is music too loud.
Classic Benz, your a complete classic. Griping about 50 rounds out of 10,000 being loud.... the equivalent of 0.005%.
Please break down your version of the percentages as well. I think my estimates are fairly reasonable. Perhaps a Marshall can chime in with their experiences to give us some hard data.
As for your made-up statistics, I don't believe that they're accurate. As I stated earlier, I have observed a growing trend of loud music on various golf courses over the last couple of years. Fortunately for me, I play most often during early mornings. However, when I happen to play mid-day and (especially) twilight rounds, that's where I've observed loud music most often and almost universally on guys riding on carts.
Why don't we reorient this discussion from the golf course to a movie theatre. Would you simploy ignore someone who used their cellphone to take and make voice calls during the showing of a movie? If not, why not? What's the difference if one guy makes a few calls during the course of a 2-hour movie? So a few dozen people can't hear the show, that's nothing compared to the number of moviegoers in a year, right?

I support those who say loud music is inappropriate but If I'm playing alone, I often have my speaker playing in my bag or on my pushcart. If I'm 20 feet away, I can't hear it so I know you can't on the next fairway.
When i walk up to a teebox, if there's someone there, the volume goes off. If I join up, the volume goes off and I don't ask if they mind if I play it because i know there are too many people who won't say they do, but will resent it.
on the rare occassion I cart with my wife or buddies, we sometimes have music playing in the cubby of the cart where you can only hear it sitting in the cart or 10 feet of it. Same deal with tee boxes etc.
I don't use earbuds because they interfere with my swing. What's in the Sunmountain 4.5?

I'd go so far as to say that the attitude can detracts from more than simply golf. Someone else blaring music such that it affects someone else's enjoyment of a shared space is rude and shouldn't be tolerated. You can see that in other areas - condo pool decks, public parks, etc. If we are told to just let it go or that we can't do anything about it, then the inconsiderate will always win over those who are considerate of other people. I'm all for compromise, but that doesn't mean "ignoring it" and letting someone else affect my enjoyment of a golf course or shared space.

If nobody plays music everybody can agree that we can all play golf...but if you allow music your interfering with some peoples ...most peoples...the majorities.....enjoyment.
there is a reason they have beats....and air pods.....aka headphones....you put them on and you can play golf and dance the night away...
people keep talking about how low these sounds are and that 20 feet away they cannot even hear them. its a lie.
if you have such a hard time hearing the music then you wouldnt be playing it all...the fact is your playing it because you can hear it...and others therefore can hear it too.
put your headphones on....so you alone enjoy the music and leave my enjoyment of the quiet ....alone.
I work everyday in a mall with my business....i hear people yelling...kids crying...i drive home i hear the guy with the subwoofer worth more than his car blaring away...
i hear the neighbours having a friday night bass heavy party...and you know what...i have to overall just live with it...
but not on the golf course pretty much the only place for nature. wear your headphones. be considerate. its simple.
I highly doubt that delcining golf participation is in any big way going to be influenced because of music blaring. young people do not have cash. simple.
anyone young i bring out golfing is absolutely blown away to invest time driving there....5 hrs playing....1 hr after to eat and drink and drive home...
and to pay ...lets say...$75 bucks. they are baffled and they willl not do anything like that expensive regularly...and blaring music will not change it.
golf in general is declining and courses will go...and leave less...and die hards will play like me...but using music as a excuse to bring in a crop of loud playing....goofing around...
guys mostly driving and yahooing it up in golf carts is not going to bring in the money.PING CAMO BAG...
